2019 Summer Essentials

“In the summertime when the weather is hot
You can stretch right up and touch the sky
When the weather’s fine
You got women, you got women on your mind
Have a drink, have a drive
Go out and see what you can find

Chh chh-chh, UH…chh chh-chh UH”

Oh come on! I know you know that song! 🙂

Ahhh summertime. No matter what your summer jam, I think we can all agree that summer, not Christmas, is the most wonderful and hap-happiest time of the year. Think about it. Green grass, flowers blooming, patio beers, sunshine…I could go on but you get the point. It’s safe to say I have a love affair with summer but in reality it’s not all rainbows and unicorns, I know. My favorite part of summer, though, has got to be the clothes. I’m a “throw on a sundress and go” kind of a girl. Bundling up head to toe in layers just isn’t my thing. Today I’m sharing with you a list of summer essentials so good, you’ll be wishing summer lasted all year round.

White jeans. Don’t let white jeans scare you. I know a lot of people who say they can’t wear them for one reason or another. Listen, I’m here to tell you that you can absolutely wear white jeans no matter the size on your clothing tag. It’s all about the fabric. Look for thick, quality fabrics that don’t show every lump and bump. Trust me, if I can wear white jeans, you can too. I am wearing the Loft curvy white jeans in the photo here, but there are several other styles on their site right now.

Sweater: unfortunately this is almost out of stock, but the brand is Halogen from Nordstrom.

Wedge sandals. If you want your calves to look amazing without having to step foot in the gym, get these puppies. Plus they go with everything and I find them to be true to size.

Statement earrings. I have what you might call a Nickel & Suede problem. I have several of their earrings and always want more. They are extremely lightweight. So lightweight that I can’t even feel them on my ears. Highly recommend these for summer or really any of the styles on their whole damn site.

A fun kimono. This one is from Betsy Boo’s Boutique. Use code chicish15 at check out for 15% off. Wearing here in medium and available in S-L.

THE summer bag. I mean come on! How cute is this?!? Plus, the cross-body strap is an added bonus.

A pair of flat sandals. These babies won’t kill your precious tootsies because they have a bit of cushion to them. They move with you as you bend your feet. Some sandals are so stiff, I can’t even walk in them!

A denim jacket. Great for the chill in the A/C spaces and cool summer nights. Both Target and Old Navy have some really great, affordable options right now.

An easy dress. This one can easily be dressed up or dressed down. You may have seen this already on last week’s Fashion 3peat. If so, kudos to you, my faithful reader. Did I mention how fabulous you look today?!?

White sneaks. I love the look of Converse, but I think I’m completely ditching them for these. So comfortable and fresh looking. When they get dirty, I just toss them in the washer with a load of towels and let air dry. Keeps them looking white all summer long!

And last but not least, a couple non-fashion related items that will save you this summer.

The mega-tote. I’m trying to quit plastic grocery bags, so I keep totes in my car for groceries. This one is so sturdy and I can cram alllll the stuff in it. Like 2 bottles of wine, 2 bottles of Prosecco and all the fixins for a charcuterie board. Totally speaking from personal experience, what can I say? Worth every penny!

Speaking of “mega”. Megababe’s thigh rescue stick. I used to think there was something wrong with me because I always had thigh chafe in the summer. I’m talking a red rash on my inner thighs if I had to walk long distances in a dress. Maybe TMI, but I don’t care. The world needs to know about this product. I am telling you, if you struggle with thigh chafe, you need this in your life. SO. DAMN. GOOD. And saves my thunder thighs in the hot Iowa heat. Like I said earlier, it’s not all rainbows and unicorns.

Which items will you be snagging for summer?

See ya on the next post.
