New Year resolutions? Year end goals? Let’s make cocktails instead.
- The Poinsettia. This is the perfect drink for around the holidays – so festive! This drink is comprised of 1/4 glass cranberry juice and 3/4 Prosecco. I like to use light cranberry juice…because 1/2 the calories (say it with me) = twice the drinks. I recently purchased frozen pomegranate seeds to sprinkle in for extra festiveness too. It was a big hit at the family Christmas party this year. Also, word on the street is pomegranates are a super food. I’m no dietitian, but I just did the math and that basically means a poinsettia is therefore a super drink. You are welcome, my faithful reader.
- The Winter Sangria. Add as much or as little fruit as you want. I used the frozen pomegranate seeds again because sometimes I like to pretend I’m thrifty. This drink is comprised of 1/4 glass sparkling white grape juice and 3/4 glass of Prosecco. Add diced fruit for extra flavor. Apples would be good in this one.
- The Cranberry Mule. You will need: 3 oz. light cranberry juice, 2 oz. vodka, 1/8 cup lime juice, plus lime wedges for garnish, 4 oz. diet ginger beer, and cranberries for garnish. Mix this all together and pour over ice in a copper mug, but make sure your mugs are lined with stainless steel, due to the recent hysteria over the actual copper mugs. You might prefer to have a bigger ratio of lime juice or ginger beer…I’m not gonna tell you how to make your mule.
Happy sampling, my thirsty friends!
See ya on the next post.

Prosecco is the life blood of my life. Very good suggestions – your portions are spot on! A dash of OJ, a splash of cranberry. 🙂
I might have to jump on the winter sangria train that looks amazing…I want it.
