Hydrangea Cream Cheese Ball
Ingredients
- 8 ounce cream cheese block
- 8 ounce whipped cream cheese
- blue food coloring
Instructions
- Cut cream cheese block in half and stack on top of each other.
- *Feel free to add any spices or flavoring such as cinnamon/sugar mixture or everything bagel seasoning to the cream cheese block if preferred over plain. Highly recommend doing this!
- Wrap cream cheese in plastic wrap and form into a ball. Refrigerate.
- Add whipped cream cheese to a bowl. Add blue food coloring to the cream cheese, one drop at a time until you reach desired shade. For the ball pictured, I used 12 drops of food coloring. If I were to do this again, I would add fewer drops (4-6) for a lighter shade.
- Fill piping bag (with a 2D tip) with the blue cream cheese.
- Remove cream cheese ball from the refrigerator and place on a board or serving platter. Pipe blue cream cheese onto the ball. If you mess up a spot, don't panic. You can simply go over that spot again at the end and it will all blend together.
- Fill the remainder of the board with bagels, other desired toppings, fruit, boiled eggs, etc.
- Serve it up and enjoy!

ALTERNATE CREAM CHEESE FLAVORS
As I mentioned in the recipe above, feel free to customize cream cheese according to your taste! If plain cream cheese is your thing, keep it plain. You may want to mix it up though. Try jalapeno cheddar for a kick, carrots and green onion for a garden veggie vibe, cinnamon sugar if you love sweets or everything bagel which is my personal favorite! Make sure you keep the bagel flavor in mind when selecting cream cheese flavor options.
HYDRANGEA CREAM CHEESE BALL – OTHER OPTIONS
Not thrilled with the idea of using food coloring? Try blue spirulina power instead or simply keep the hydrangea white. If you keep the hydrangea white, make sure you thoroughly stir the whipped cream cheese before adding to the piping bag to get out any “bubbles”. It will become smooth after stirring and is super easy to work with – similar to frosting.
