“Knee high by the 4th of July.” It’s something I find myself saying every year. If you know, you know. 🙂 If you are not from the Midwest and find yourself confused, let me break it down for you. You know the famous Iowa corn? Think Field of Dreams circa 1989. I’m not saying it’s what made Iowa corn famous but it certainly didn’t hurt. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, I love being from the Midwest. I love being from Iowa. I also love to travel and explore new cities, countries and other parts of the world, but the Midwest, in my opinion, is best. And if you’ve been following me for awhile, you know my love affair with summer. I can’t explain it. It’s like the movie, “Now and Then”. There is just something so nostalgic about it.
Listen, it was a long spring. But, in my opinion, summer is flying by at lightning speed. 4th of July is next weekend! Ah!!! I know things look a little differently this year. It’s a strange time and we are all trying our best to get through it in our own way. If you’ve been around for awhile you also know I love a good tablescape. What better occasion to inspire you than the 4th? You can do something like this for yourself, a family of 2, 4, 6 and beyond. Family potlucks might be smaller this season but our team spirit is not. I recognize that budgets may also be smaller this year. What’s cheaper than watermelon, hot dogs and chips/dip? Let’s fancy it up, shall we?

I hope the pictures here speak for themselves and inspire you to create your own 4th of July holiday spread for your family. Here’s a breakdown of each item.
