But it Looked Cute on the Model…

If you’ve been following me for a while or know me in real life, you know that I do A LOT of shopping online. I LOVE CLOTHES! I love online shopping, store browsing, trying on outfits, styling, shopping for other people…there isn’t much I don’t love about it. Except swim suit shopping. That is hell on Earth and only the devil himself would subject anyone to that kind of pure torture. There is no better feeling than showing up to an event, work or whatever the occasion in the perfect outfit. When you look good, you feel good. And who doesn’t want to feel good? Nobody, I repeat nobody has a good time showing up to the ball in sweatpants.

I find that the best stuff and the best sales (and the size I typically need, go figure) are usually online, so I never hesitate when online shopping to buy, buy, buy! Hence my husband’s constant complaining of the packages, packages, packages.

Now, I have gotten some compliments lately from people who say, “You have the best stuff!” or “You look great in everything!” I’m going to let you in on a little secret. For every one item of clothing I buy, I probably try on at least 5 additional items that are just plain ole no’s. Don’t believe me? Check out the photos below.

I had high hopes for this little number. It was love at first sight as I browsed one of my favorite stores online. The model wore it off one shoulder and let me tell you something, I am a sucker for off the shoulder. I don’t know why. I immediately began to fantasize about the places I would wear it this summer…drinks with my husband, brunch with the girls, even concerts. The day of the package arrival, I got an email notification: “A parcel has been delivered to your mailbox.” YASSSS! Only 3 hours, 24 minutes and 16 seconds until the end of the work day. How’s a girl to concentrate knowing a package is just there waiting? Won’t be going to the gym after work either because I have clothes to try on before my husband gets home! Trying on clothes is a workout, amiright?!?

3 hours and some change later…

I’m sorry, wut? I’ve been in hospital gowns more flattering than this.

The point of this post is NOT intended to diss the clothing or the store because they have oodles of good stuff that I buy on the regular. This particular dress just didn’t work for me. The point is: it’s not you, it’s the clothes! So you try on a bunch of stuff that isn’t flattering…who cares?!? Don’t get down on yourself or let it affect your mood! But it looked cute on the model…well, that’s why she’s a model. This is also why it’s important to shop often. Some days you’ll find nothing, other days you’ll hit the jackpot! Wouldn’t you rather pick up items here and there that you really love than buy a bunch of crap because “today is shopping day and the day I’m going to restock my wardrobe day”? No. Just no.

So chin up, sweetheart! It’s not you…it’s the clothes. Never let a piece of fabric determine your self worth. The. End.

Now if you will excuse me, I have stuff to return.

See ya on the next post!
