Crab Rangoon Bites

Ingredients

  • 4-5 ounces crab meat or imitation crab
  • 1/4 cup plain cream cheese (I use 1/3 less fat)
  • 1/4 cup mayonaisse (I use light)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (I use light)
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp sriracha
  • 1 tsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1 package phyllo shells
  • sweet and sour sauce to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Mix together all of the above ingredients except the shells and sweet and sour sauce.
  • Fill each shell with the mixture.
  • Bake on a parchment lined baking sheet for 18-22 minutes or until the shells start to turn golden brown.
  • Serve with (or drizzle on) sweet and sour sauce.
  • Top with more green onions or chives (optional).
  • Enjoy!

PHYLLO SHELLS SUBSTITUTIONS

Phyllo shells can be found next to the pie crusts in the freezer section of the grocery store. Most major grocery stores sell these, but I do have a difficult time finding them at Target grocery. I have also never seen them at Aldi.

If you can’t find the shells, try using phyllo dough instead. Allow the dough to thaw. Cut into equal squares and place 1/3-1/2 the thickness of the dough into a mini muffin tin. Fill with the above mixture and bake.

CRAB OPTIONS

Feel free to use any crab you like for this recipe, including imitation crab.

“LIGHT” INGREDIENTS

While I did use 1/3 less fat cream cheese, light mayo and light sour cream for this recipe, feel free to use whatever you have on hand. It is not necessary to go out and buy the light versions of the same ingredients. It will be delicious either way. I grew up in the 90’s when everything was “fat free” and “low calorie” so I tend to buy light mayo and sour cream out of habit. 🙂 I just can’t seem to shake it.
