Frankenstein Halloween Jello Shots

Ingredients

  • 3 boxes of lime flavored Jello each box is 3 ounces each
  • 3 pouches of Knox unflavored gelatine each box comes with 4 packs
  • 1 1/2 cup raspberry vodka
  • 2 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  • Pour cold vodka into a batter bowl or mixing bowl with a pour spout. Pour gelatine over the vodka and let sit at least 1 minute. Stir to fully incorporate. Add flavored Jello to the bowl over the vodka/gelatine mixture.
  • Heat water in a sauce pan until boiling.
  • Pour the boiling water over the Jello/gelatine mixture and stir until all the gelatine/Jello is dissolved.
  • Pour liquid into serving cups or a glass dish (for Jello shot jigglers).
  • Refridgerate at least 4 hours and enjoy!

Notes

Skipping the step of mixing the cold vodka with the gelatine and letting sit for 1 minute  may cause the mixture to clump. If any clumping occurs, strain mixture through a colander. Save remaining liquid for the recipe and discard any clumps. If mixture if too clumpy to save, you may need to start over.

WHY ADD GELATINE?

Adding Knox unflavored gelatine adds a nice texture to each Jello shot. When Jello shots sit out for a period of time, they become soupy in texture which isn’t appealing. These Jello shots hold up for longer periods of time. They are also great served as Jello jigglers. If you can’t find Knox unflavored gelatine, you can make this recipe without it. Just know, it will change the texture.

JELLO JIGGLERS

For jigglers, simply pour liquid into a glass baking dish. Place in the fridge for 4 hours and cut into desired shapes. You may need to place the bottom of the dish in warm water for the jigglers to release. To read more about unflavored gelatine, visit the Knox website.

SHOT CUPS AND SUPPLIES

The shot cups I used here are taller than your typical Jello shot cup, so may require a spoon to consume, unlike the short shot cups. I used the taller version to provide more room for the face, but you can certainly use shorter version. You can find everything you need to recreate these Frankenstein Halloween Jello Shots here!

To recreate the Frankenstein face, all you need to do is add googly eyes to each cup. Then draw the rest of the face with a Sharpie. Feel free to get creative with this part! You may find it easier to draw the faces on the cup before adding liquid to them. Don’t panic if you forget to do this. Simply allow the Jello to set and then add the eyes and rest of the face. Then, add glue to the lid and top with black shredded paper. Allow to dry. You may find it easier to add each lid after the Jello has set.
