SUBSTITUTIONS FOR FAT FREE HALF & HALF
You can absolutely use full fat half & half for this recipe if you prefer. I find the fat free makes this a little bit lighter and a little less rich.
WHAT IS A GRASSHOPPER?
A grasshopper is an after dinner drink, which tastes like mint due to the creme de menthe. My recipe uses vanilla ice cream, so if you enjoy mint ice cream, you will love this! The drink is considered by many to be old fashioned. It was my grandmother’s favorite after dinner cocktail in the 60’s and 70’s. It is a great alternative to dessert, too. So, skip the cheesecake – I’ll have a grasshopper! It’s time for this cocktail to make a comeback, in my opinion.
I hope you love my grinch grasshopper cocktail as much as my family does! We have tweaked this recipe to get just the right combination of flavors. It is perfect as is, but you can certainly omit the vodka if you want it to be slightly less boozy. 🙂 It does change the consistency slightly though.
