Heart Shaped Friendship Necklace Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 pizza crust
  • pizza sauce to taste
  • mozzarella or Italian blend shredded cheese to taste
  • pizza seasoning to taste
  • mini pepperoni to taste
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped or minced
  • parsley to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees. (Oven temps may vary, so follow the temp listed on the crust package. Each may be slightly different.)
  • Roll out a pre-made grocery store pizza crust and place on a greased pizza pan. Shape crust into a heart.
  • Roll a pizza dough docker over the pizza crust. If you don't have a dough docker, you can use a fork to poke holes in the pizza crust instead.
  • Bake pizza crust for 6 minutes.
  • Remove crust from the oven and add sauce, shredded cheese, pizza seasoning, and mini pepperoni.
  • Bake for another 8-10 minutes. Remove and allow to cool. Cut in half into a zig zag pattern to resemble a friendship necklace.
  • Melt butter with garlic and top with parsley. Brush onto crust.

WHAT IS A PIZZA DOUGH DOCKER?

A pizza dough docker is a kitchen tool used to poke holes in the pizza dough. We make homemade pizza frequently and find it to be useful as it speeds up the process of poking holes in the dough before baking. You can find my pizza dough docker and other kitchen favorites here.

ALTERNATE TOPPINGS

If you look closely at this photo, I used the mini pepperoni to spell “BEST FRIEND” – just like the popular friendship necklaces. Feel free to use other toppings like sliced olives instead. You can also add additional toppings under the cheese if desired. Not sharing a pizza with your bestie? Try other fun Valentine phrases such as “be mine”, “cutie pie”, or “hot stuff”. Feeling sassy? Try “bite me” or “you wish”. 🙂
