Mini Watermelon Summer Cocktail

This mini watermelon summer cocktail is going to be THE drink of summer. It’s the perfect sweetness and very refreshing. Plus, nothing says “summer” quite like a cold watermelon. Delish! This would also make a fun activity for summer parties. Everyone can grab a mini watermelon and make their own drink. How fun!

Mini Watermelon Summer Cocktail

  • potato ricer
  • melon baller
  • mesh strainer

  • 1 individual mini watermelon
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 2-3 ounces vodka
  • light agave to taste
  • mint, for garnish optional

  • Slice a small spot in the bottom of your watermelon so it will sit flat. Be careful not to cut all the way through – you don’t want it to leak. This is very important!
  • Cut off the top of the water melon.
  • Use a melon baller to cut out a few watermelon balls. Freeze for later. Continue to hallow out your melon with a spoon, making sure to save the juice.
  • Using a stainless steel potato ricer, squeeze all of the juice out of the chunks of watermelon that you have removed from inside.
  • Strain all watermelon juice through a mesh strainer and chill juice in the fridge until cold.
  • Juice 1-2 limes, or until you have 1 ounce of juice
  • Add the following to your hallowed out watermelon:
    Frozen melon balls
    1 ounce lime juice
    2-3 ounces vodka
    Light agave to taste
    Watermelon juice
    Stir well
    Garnish with mint
Add a cocktail umbrella and straw (optional)
  • If your watermelon isn't super juicy, you may need to add a bit of club soda to top it all off. Club soda will also help you balance out the sweetness if this drink is too sweet for you. You can also adjust the sweetness by adding more or less light agave.

If preferred, you can shake all the ingredients (except the club soda) in a cocktail shaker with ice before pouring over ice into the watermelon. I typically do this with cocktail recipes to combine and chill all the ingredients.

Not a vodka fan? No problem! This would be great with either tequila or gin, too!

  1. You will definitely need some sort of juicer for this recipe. I think the potato ricer works perfectly for juicing watermelons! It fits perfectly over a traditional cocktail shaker.
  2. You will also need a melon baller if you’d like your drink to have watermelon “ice cubes.”
  3. A mesh strainer will also come in handy as you strain out any seeds.

Drink Umbrellas and colorful straws definitely make this cocktail a bit more fun. While they aren’t required, they certainly make the drink even more festive for summer!
