Strawberry Crab Cake

This strawberry crab cake tutorial is inspired by the viral strawberry lobster cake trend. Whenever I participate in trends, I always try to put my own spin on it. So, instead of a lobster, I decided to make a crab out of strawberries instead of a lobster. The end result is even cuter than I imagined. Below is a step-by-step photo tutorial of how to cut the strawberries and arrange them into the shape of a crab. Simply add the strawberry crab to a cake and you’ve got yourself the cutest dessert to take to your next potluck or party. This is one that will surely get all the oohs and ahhs!

To recreate this, you will only need one package of fresh strawberries and one cake. (You will have some leftover to enjoy later or serve alongside cake.) You will also need one small round cake. I purchased a six inch cake from the grocery store as a short cut. If you can’t find a six inch cake, feel free to use any size cake you like. You may also make a cake from scratch if you prefer. If you want to add some “sand” to the outside of the cake (pictured above), simply pulse some graham crackers in the food processor!

Step 1: Clean, dry and cut the tops off strawberries.

Step 2: Cut 2 large strawberries (similar in size) in half. Cut the bottom off one of them.

Step 3: Cut a small strawberry in half.

Step 4: Cut out triangles in the top to resemble a heart for the claws.

Step 5: Cut off the ends of 2 smaller strawberries (will look like small circles).

Step 6: Cut small pieces to connect the claws and finish the crab.

Step 7: Add strawberry crab to a cake.
