Walmart Online Grocery for the WIN!

I have used Walmart online grocery now a few times and let me tell you something. It. Is. BOMB!

You should know – I don’t like Walmart. I don’t like shopping there, particularly at the location nearest me. It’s always chaotic and drives me to drink. My Walmart anxiety begins in the parking lot where the vast majority of shoppers have absolutely no concept that anyone else may be shopping that day. There is undoubtedly always – and I mean always – someone who refuses to be a decent co-shopper and insists on sauntering s-l-o-w-l-y in front of you, no matter where you try to go and especially when you are driving a motor vehicle. At this point in the trip, I feel my blood pressure rising. Somehow, I manage to keep my cool. Every. Time. They should hand out cookies when you leave the store as a prize for not murdering someone.

The little devil on my shoulder is now whispering to me, “Just go to Target…who cares if you spend more money…it’s so much more pleasant and clean and quiet at Target…” I also find it worth mentioning that there are, at minimum, 50 families there with screaming children. As I write to you now, I think I may understand exactly WHY the children are screaming. Little Mary, I feel you, I hate it here too.

I know what you’re thinking: “Why do you continue to shop there?” Truthfully, it’s a convenient location, and I’m seduced by their ‘everyday low prices’ and clever little happy face.

This is where the Walmart grocery app comes in. In a nutshell, you select your groceries online, check out and select a pick-up time. You can add to your list until a certain cut off time too, which is great. I also appreciate that you only need a minimum order of $30. Oh, AND, you can get a $10 off code by referring your friends. Free money people! They offer many pick-up times and often you can get your order the very next day. (When your order is ready they send you an email.) Tell them you are on your way via the app and pull up to the parking spots marked specifically for grocery pick-up. These spots are conveniently located on the side of the building, making it possible to almost completely avoid the parking lot all together. Genius!! They load your car for you, get your signature and you’re off on your merry little way.

YOU GUYS! This saves SO MUCH time! Time you can now devote to sipping martinis, catching up on Netflix or going to the gym, if that’s your thing…

Give it a try and thank me later.

See ya on the next post.

Do you know if you can purchase beer/liquor this way? That’s the only reason I ever go there and I also despise the store on our side of town!

You can definitely purchase beer using online grocery! I don’t know about liquor because I’ve never tried that. You should be able to do a quick search and find out though. Good luck!

1000% agree that online shopping > walking up and down aisles for hours surrounded by screaming kids. I’m curious about your beef with Hy-Vee- is it just the inflated prices? Some kind of moral opposition?

It’s just so expensive compared to places like Fareway, Walmart and Aldi. They do have a great, wide selection of products though and a fantastic meat counter.

Here where I live our grocery store (Shoprite) offers shop from home. Basically its the same concept as walmart, however, they offer delivery. They will even bring it in to the kitchen for you! What?!? I am so willing to pay the extra fee to stay out of the store.
